EOTA participated in the technical round table ‘News on the new Construction Products Regulation’ (CGATE, Madrid)

On 9 May 2024, a round table about the developments of the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) took place at the headquarters of the General Council of Technical Architecture of Spain (CGATE) in Madrid.

The event was officially opened by Mr. Jose Manuel Prieto Barrio, Secretary General of Quality and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. Mr. Juan López de Asiain welcomed attendees on behalf of the CGATE.

Delving into the subject matter of the round table, Mr. Jorge Jimeno, Head of Area at the Secretariat General of Quality and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, gave a keynote speech about the new CPR.

This keynote was followed up by a round table moderated by Sergio Vázquez Jiménez, Secretary General of EOTA.

The participants in the round table engaged in a diverse discussion about the consequences of the changes that the new CPR will bring, such as the concept of a harmonised zone, digitalisation, assessment of sustainability aspects, or the new CE marking for reused products.

Mr. Antonio Blázquez Morales, Head of the Technical Evaluation Unit of Innovative Products and Systems, participated on behalf of the Spanish Technical Assessment Body and EOTA member, IETcc-CSIC, sharing his perspective on the modalities put forward by the new CPR.

This event was followed by some 200 attendees, mainly online, representing the areas of manufacture, standardisation, technical assessment, and monitoring of construction products.
